Milton Dick MP Hosts United States Ambassador Caroline Kennedy

Canberra, ACT - It was with great honor and privilege that I had the opportunity to host Her Excellency, Caroline Kennedy, the United States Ambassador to Australia. The Australia-United States Alliance is on a strong footing and has never been more important, particularly in the face of the challenging environment we are currently experiencing.

During our meeting, we had a fruitful discussion about Ambassador Kennedy's priorities for her time in Australia and how Congress and Parliament can collaborate more effectively to achieve a stable, prosperous, and secure region.

As a token of appreciation, I presented Ambassador Kennedy with a Coolamon, a traditional Indigenous Australian vessel. This unique Coolamon was created by talented artists Jenny Kent and Rad Digeridoos from the Oxley Electorate. The art on the Coolamon beautifully represents the rich Indigenous culture and heritage of Australia.

Our discussion centered around the importance of maintaining a strong and enduring alliance between Australia and the United States. We recognized the need for continued cooperation in areas such as defense, trade, and diplomacy to address the complex challenges of our time.

Ambassador Kennedy expressed her commitment to further strengthening the ties between our two nations. She emphasized the importance of fostering people-to-people connections, promoting cultural exchanges, and deepening economic cooperation.

As representatives of our respective governments, we acknowledged the shared values and interests that underpin the Australia-United States Alliance. We reaffirmed our commitment to upholding democratic principles, promoting human rights, and addressing global challenges such as climate change, terrorism, and regional security.

It was a productive and enlightening meeting, and I look forward to working closely with Ambassador Kennedy and her team during her tenure in Australia. Together, we will strive to strengthen the bonds between our nations and contribute to a more prosperous and secure region.
