The Inshave scorp, also known as a Round Shave, Croom Iron or Scorper, is believed to have originated in the coopers' trade, specifically for working inside a cask. This tool features a 35mm wide blade with a cutting edge that is approximately 170mm long. It essentially functions as a drawknife, but with the blade curved. The Inshave is highly versatile and can be used by chair makers, musical instrument makers, and anyone interested in carving broad concave surfaces in timber. With a 25° bevel on the outside, the blade offers excellent control when used with the two wooden handles. Crafted from fine German tool steel, the blade is hand forged and has a machine-sharpened edge, although it is recommended to give it a final honing to achieve a truly razor-sharp finish.
This is a specialized drawknife for hollowing out areas in bowls, chair seats, etc.
